How a move runs, start to finish
Every Manchester piano removal runs to the same four steps, so nothing about the day catches you out:
- Survey and planning. We look over the piano and the property first, the stairs, the hallway width, the doorways, the parking, and settle on the safest way in and out before the day.
- Wrapping and prep. Purpose-made piano blankets, padding and straps go on, and the instrument is fastened down properly for the road.
- The move itself. A trained crew who read a piano's balance and keep it steady does the carrying, in vans set up for anything from an upright to a full grand.
- Setting it down. We place the piano exactly where you want it at the far end, level and ready to play.

Careful from first lift to last
A piano can top 150 kilograms, with a cast-iron frame, strings pulled to huge tension and a fragile action tucked inside. We wrap and skid every instrument, walk the route through your home before a single lift, and lay down floor protection as we move.
Doing it yourself to save a few pounds is tempting, but it's brutal, unforgiving work, and the risk to the piano, to fingers and to backs rarely pays off. Far better to hand it to a team that moves pianos safely every single day.

Do you move grand pianos as well as uprights?
Every one of them: uprights, baby grands, full concert grands, digitals and pianolas. Where a grand needs it, the legs and lyre come off, it rides on a padded skid in grand slippers, and we put it back together once it lands.
Can you move a piano upstairs or to an apartment?
Constantly. Terrace staircases, tight landings, goods lifts, loading bays and city-centre flats are all in a normal week, handled with stair technique, lifting belts and ramps. Since access at each end is the biggest thing shaping the price, do flag it when you ask.
Is my piano insured while you move it?
Yes, we carry full insurance for piano moves. There's a spot on the quote request where you can note the instrument's value for liability cover.
How far will you travel?
As far as needed. Greater Manchester is covered constantly, and we think nothing of taking a piano right across the country when the job calls for it.
